Matt Uremovich's Top 6 Outdoor Concerts - EVER
6. Johnny Cash - Wisconsin State Fairgrounds, 1980-ish. I was small, so I don't remember much. I do remember that his brother, Jimmy Cash, opened up. They sounded the same to me. Must've been all the amphetamines. Them, not me. I was more of a Pez guy back then.
5. Aerosmith and Gun's & Roses - Poplar Creek, 1988? The Gun's were hit and miss a lot back in those days. Oh man, was this a MISS. Sooooo sucky. Ended with Rocket Queen, though. I remember thinking Aerosmith was crazy old. Still pretty old, I'd imagine.
4. Kenny Rogers - Taste of Chicago - July 2003. The northern half of Teasin' went to Summerfest to see Foo Fighters. Their loss. Kenny looked and sounded the same as he did back in 1985 . . . from 600 yards away.
3. Pearl Jam - Alpine Valley, October!!! 1999. Sooooooo co-o-o-o-old. Not sure if the eight $6 ice-cold beers I drank were any help. Seriously packed, though.
2. Replacements - Summerfest, 1991. I'm lumping this in with a lot of other Summerfest shows on the old Laser 103 stage. Tesla, Cheap Trick, Smithereens, and Ross' favorite, the Stabilizers. Try YouTubing THEM. If they're out there, then be afraid, because the dump you took last nite is probably up there, too.
1. Green Day - New Orleans Voodoo Music Fest, Fall 2004. We've talked about this before. What a freakin' show. There were also a lot of other great bands there. Sonic Youth and Lake Trout were not among them. I'm only lumping Sonic Youth and Lake Trout together because they both blow.
